The popular dictum:
“safety first” have been the motto of humans from years immemorial and it is
the very reason why a lot of people are living a push-about, unfulfilled and
average life, because if you really want to be successful, live fulfilled and
become exceptional in life, then you will have to make ‘safety last’ by attempting
planned and unplanned risk sometimes. David did not wear soldiers kit or
carried protective shield when he was to fight Goliath, he exposed himself. If
you really want to be successful in life, then you must be ready, willing and
courageous to take risk sometimes. You
will not do well in life if you are afraid to take risk. If you want to
experience change and great times in life, then you must be willing to ‘endanger’
yourself and your ‘hard earned’ resources sometimes.
Everything great in life is a product of risk. It
wasn’t pleasure for Thomas Edison to keep investing his resources after the
series of failure in his attempt to manufacture the bulb; it wasn’t a thing of delight
for Abraham Lincoln to keep running for political office and position after all
the defeats he suffered. What can you learn from the four lepers in 1st
Kings 7:3-20: “If we say, we will enter into the city, then the famine is in the
city, and we shall die there: and if we sit still here, we die also. Now
therefore come, and let us fall unto the
host of the Syrians: if they save us alive, we shall live; and if they kill us,
we shall but die…” or perhaps queen Esther: “and so will I go in unto the
king, which is not according to the law: and
if I perish, I perish. Esther 4:16.
Without
properly calculated risk, your life will never be what and how you want it to be;
great risk comes with great reward! And for people who are afraid of risk,
know this today that: everything you do in life is risk itself, even the water
you drink and the food you eat, they are all risky acts. A
man’s destiny will be misused and abused when he fails to recognize God’s
purpose for his life. You have to know God’s master plan for your life or
people will use you to achieve their ‘selfish’ agenda then after abandon you. Until
you recognize your place in God’s scheme of things, the devil will continue to
displace you and you cannot know it when you refuse to expose yourself to
painful reality of life, this is where you will have to come out and not stay
put in your comfort zone, this is where you will have to ‘endanger’ yourself.
